One thing that Wharton does a great job of in the classroom is getting you to see issues from multiple perspectives. I am a dual major with Wharton and the Huntsman Program and through this, I’ve gotten to travel to Tanzania, Jordan, and Nicaragua. These travel opportunities have allowed me to understand what it’s like to live in a developing country. It’s allowed me apply what I learn in the classroom to a real life situation and see results. That understanding is a very important complement to the intellectual foundation we get at Wharton.
3 things I want to do in my life
Climb at least three of the Seven Summits, travel extensively and perhaps work abroad. Work in the public interest sector.
My favorite experience at Wharton/Penn
Serving on the Wharton Dean’s Undergraduate Advisory Board (WAB) has definitely been the highlight of my campus experience. Not only have I been able to help improve academic life at Wharton through my work on the Social Impact and BizTalks initiatives, but I’ve also made some of my best friends at Penn through WAB. When you first get involved with WAB, the upperclassmen tell you that WAB is a family, and they’re absolutely right.
My “business and more” experience
The opportunity to take classes in the college (and in any of the graduate schools) is amazing. These classes have been some of my most enjoyable classes so far at Penn. I’ve taken classes about the following topics: The Politics of Online Social Networking, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, Arabic language, Major Works in Spanish Literature, Spain and the European Union, and Comparative Capitalists Systems.
